So anyone jumping in on either of these? I haven't played much guitar Hero, but the little I have has me drooling to play more... but it really looks like Rock Band has the better song list. Lots of Who and Bowie and stuff.

So, anyone have any thoughts on these? Pros and cons?

I'm probably going to pull the trigger on buying Guitar Hero III this weekend. Rock Band doesn't come out until 11/20, and the old ADD is kicking in... I just dont think I can wait! laugh.gif

I love Guitar Hero, though I wish I could get the list for the first one on the 360. Rock Band looks like it oughtta be great though. Probably end up owning III and Rock Band to go along with the copy of II I already have.

Does this help, Trebor?

The games sound interesting, but I've never picked any of them up. Price point has been a factor on my gaming in recent years.

Of the two, I'd say Rock Band sounds like it would be more fun if you got your friends together, but if that's not something you can do very often, Guitar Hero is probably the way to go.

My brother-in-law has Guitar Hero I and II. They are fun, and can be challenging. But I got tired of them fairly fast. That 80's one looked cool though...

I actually bought Guitar Hero for the PS2 last year after playing it round Leeds Knights house. I have to say it was fun for a while both for myself and Mrs Ridge. But after a few plays of the songs contained on the disc it gets a bit too repetitive. To me it was always a novelty and not something that could sustain my interest for too long. Hence the reason I've never splashed out on the two follow ups. Nor will I probably buy Rock Band. Some people may like them and find them fun to play but I think they're more the game for when others come round.

Which for us, doesn't happen nearly that often.

*shrugs* i have just recently gotten GH II and III, (my plans on getting I for me i believe later on lol)...we both love them, not to mention we played rock band for like 8 hours straight one day(at a mate's house...singing for 8 hours KILLS btw)...

but in the end if youre not a perfectionist then the games will cap out at mildly amusing at best id say...

luckily for me i have like limitless attention span

but those waffles are tasty!!!!

oh sorry what was i saying?

oh right! attention span...

but seriously, though i reccomend everyone plays it at least once, unless youve got a few friends you see regularly that also enjoy the game then id just reccomend playing it at your local wal-mart biggrin.gif(as i still do regualarly when there :-p)

I've come down on the Rock Band side pretty heavily. GHIII was just too damn hard at anything other than easy lvl, and too easy at easy lvl. Plus the songs in RB are better, simply because they aren't covers, they're by the original bands. I'll be looking for the drum kit when it comes out in march.

Mel and I have Rockband on PS2, and we've tried and beat GH3 on easy just before xmas. Mel is almost done Guitar solo career on Expert, and I've just been introduced to the frightening world of the orange button. Mel plays the geetar in real life, while I can barely play cowbell. Mel can (with our SOCOM headset) single play In Bloom and Celebrity Skin singing and strumming. I can barely play cowbell in Don't Fear the Reaper.

In summary, the only shot I have at the game is if Mel's playing and I happen to be in her ear at the time. I can't see that stopping us from getting the drums in the future though. And I agree with the ogre, the songs in Rock Band are much better than GH3.

Unless he's a beta tester, he's lying. And if he's a beta tester, he's extremely unlikely to be allowed to say anything.
