Full Version: Warmachine!

Ok I've decided to post this here.... caus God forbid if any of those clix players know that I don't really play Clix and have grown to miniatures war game... shhhhh.

Here's the summary on the warmachine website:

http://www.ikwarmachine.com/

In WARMACHINE™, the very earth shakes during fierce confrontations where six-ton constructs of tempered iron and steel slam into one another with the destructive force of a locomotive, where lead-spewing cannons chew through armor plating as easily as flesh, and where a tempest of arcane magics sets the battlefield ablaze with such Armageddon-like proportions that the gods themselves fear to tread such tormented ground!

Victory shall favor the bold! So bring it on, if you’ve got the metal.

WARMACHINE™ is a fast-paced and aggressive 30mm tabletop miniatures battle game set in the steam-powered fantasy world of the Iron Kingdoms™. These Quick Start rules are designed to get you up and running with the contents of your battlegroup box set. They are streamlined to facilitate quick learning of the game’s fundamentals, and as such omit certain special rules and options. The WARMACHINE rulebook provides greatly expanded rules that cover all the models, including troops and characters, as well as extensive background into the world of the Iron Kingdoms.

The quickstart rules can be downloaded here:

Ok now here's my comments.

I love this game! It only costs $40.00 to get into and you get to a complete battle group. There are 5 factions to choose from. Cygnar (the all around good guys), Khador (for the motherland!), Menoth (Your religous zealots), Cryx (just pure evil) and Mercenarys (warriors for higher).

Game play is easy and quick to catch on. They way you. Every battlegroup are controled by Warcasters. Each Warcaster has focus points where they assign to warjacks or to cast spells. Each turn you assing those focus so your warjacks can do special attacks or other abilities. Each unit can be moved and attack each turn.

Don't have the figures or are too cheap to get them? You can try out the basic game for free by downloading the stat cards and quickstart rules at the Warmachine website.

I am really heavily into this game (already spent over $800 on it) and I play it regularly. Entered a tournament this past weekend and placed 3rd too!

Oh did I mention I'm a pressganger? The like a Wizkids judge. Ok, enough of me plugging this game.

OK then, I'll plug it...

BEST... MINIATURES... GAME... EVER.

What if they were to make a Playboy miniatures game?

Would Warmachine still be the best?
DrQuinzel
Yes....because the whole appeal behind Playboys has *nothing* to do with the word "miniature."

Thats how I started, age 4, down at my local Games Worskhop shop, then 13 years later, clix!

I'm rather tired of Games Workshop's ranges as they are stale and unoriginal, but new games such as Warmachine and the I-Kore stuff really pushes the whole scuplt thing, as I love the dynamic manga style scuplts.

All said I haven't tried Warmachine, but after hearing all the good stuff, I'm tempted. biggrin.gif

Yeah I tried Warhammer 40K last year while I was at Comic Con. Those sales persons are evil! I walked away with over 100 bucks worth of Warhammer 40 stuff that I would never play.

Yes the rules, the sculpts, it definately the best miniatures game ever!

I always feel cheated when the figures are a pleasure to look at, te whole GW rip off thing is a topic I could talk about for hours LOL
Creation Matrix
Ah warmachine is far from GW... it's mechanics.. it's sculpts... man I just can't get over how good this game is. And it's growing so fast... at least in my area.smile.gif

I was already into Warmachine before Gen Con, but I really went nuts with it here. I bought the new book, three new models (including a preview piece for the new HORDES game coming next year, a game compatable with but seperate from Warmachine), and the color stat cards. Pictured here are a cute Khador Widowmaker, a Cygnarian Gun Mage, and a life-sized sculpture of Cryxian Lich Lord Asphyxious. The new expansion, while small, has some of the most beautiful minatures ever devised for a game.
