I think that's an entirely different type of video, isn't it? Nevermind...

I had to vote for the Pink Chick here, just because I'm sick of all these whine-o-bots...
HollowScream
I'm with Soylent there. I'm tired of the whiney bots too. That, and Arcee is a pink car.

Arcee was cool, and often a pivotal character. Broadside had maybe one scene in the entire third season. And his ability to change from an aircraft carrier to a jet boggles the willing suspension of disbelief. And his toy was pretty much a block with a few pieces that moved on it to change forms (and how come this nobody got a toy but Arcee never did?).

Although I think this was the last time a Transformer named "Broadside" actually turned into a boat.

The fact that Arcee never got a toy is truly bizarre. By and large, the shows, and certainly the movie, were commercials for toys. Arcee was created, I assume, to get more girls interested in Transformers. So they didn't serve either purpose. Puzzling.
KilljoyBob
Well, none of the female Transformers got toys until just recently. I guess they thought they wouldn't sell well, which doesn't make sense, since Hasbro was making toys of female G.I. Joe characters at the time. rolleyes.gif

Well, they started getting them with Beast Wars, so that's not really "recent" anymore. But yeah, it was kind of strange that there weren't any female characters in the G1 line.

Not so strange that Arcee wasn't one of them, though. Since the toys came before the characters in the show, they weren't as likely to make a toy based off a character who didn't already have one. Which is a shame, because it's not like the reversal didn't work in other shows (He-Man's Sorceress, Orko, and King Randor toys all came from the show instead of the other way around), and it's not like female toys in other lines (He-Man, GI Joe), and more importantly other robot toy lines (Crasher from Go-Bots) didn't sell.

...And for some reason, my brain is insisting that somewhere I read that there was a character who was originally planned to be female, but was re-written as male instead. But I can't remember where I read that or what character it was supposed to be.

Anyway, though, Arcee is much cooler than a character who is afraid of his two primary jobs.
KilljoyBob
Both Air Razor in Beast Wars and Override in Cybertron were female in America, but were turned into males in Japan. Are you thinking of one of those?
Chaomancer Omega
Maybe... but for some reason I'm thinking it was a G1 character that was going to be female but was changed to male before release in the US.
HollowScream
I bet it was Bumblebee....
