Let's try this again, shall we? After the fiasco of the first time, it took a little while for me to feel like resurrecting this, but I think it's about time to do so.
The Battle of the Comic Strips will pit either 32 or 64 (depending on nominations) comic strips from all time against each other.
So here are the guidelines on nominations:
1. Who can nominate?: Current Hallsians and up may nominate. If you are a Citizen, you may participate in the battle, but may not nominate. If you are a neophyte or on probation, sorry, you will not be able to participate; this is as a precaution against a repeat of the shenanigans from last time. I hate that I have to do it, but I'll not let this get derailed a second time that way. (In general, my battles will still be open to everyone; this is just an exception for an exceptional situation.)
2. Media: Both traditional newspaper strips (such as Calvin & Hobbes) and webcomics (such as Questionable Content) are eligible for nomination. They will not be separated from each other.
3. Status: Comics of any age are eligible, from the start of comics to the present day. Comics which have ended are eligible, as are comics that are ongoing. Whether the comic ended 20 years ago or just began last week, it's eligible.
4. Size: All sizes are eligible, so long as it's an actual strip, and not a book. One-panels such as Far Side, strips such as Dilbert, full-pagers such as Dr. McNinja, are all eligible. Books, such as Justice League of America are not, even if they are purely web-based such as Cheshire Crossing.
5. Content: No restriction on the nature of the comic. Funny comics and serious comics are both eligible. Clean comics and curse-word-filled comics are both eligible.
6. Language: If it uses words, it must be in English, purely for accessibility reasons.
7. Knowable: Obscure comics are allowed, but they must be something I can find, and that other people can find. For example, I can find a web comic if you provide the URL, and most syndicated strips have an online presence as well. Basically, don't nominate your local college newspaper's gag strip unless you can point me to a place where Hallsians can read it.
8. Self-involvement: You may not nominate a comic strip that you created or which stars a character based on you (in the main role or a significant secondary role.)
9. Prior Nominations: If you nominated the last time, your nominations have not been kept. Send in a new list. You don't have to keep the same noms as before.
10. Making Nominations: You can nominate up to 15 comic strips. Be sure to rank them. Send them to me via PM. Deadline will be October 28th.
If there are any questions about nominating, feel free to ask.
