So. After giving up the lead in the third quarter, the Oregon Ducks managed to come back and tie the game against Arizona with 6 seconds left in the game, forcing it to go into overtime. They then won the game in double overtime.
After having the next week off, the Oregon Ducks will face off against the Oregon State Beavers in the Civil War on December 3rd... and whichever team wins that game will be the Pac-10 Conference Champions and will go to the Rose Bowl.
Fortunately, it's going to be a home game for Oregon. Autzen Stadium may well break a loudness record again.
It's going to be one hell of a game. I think Oregon will probably win it, but OSU is going to put up one hell of a fight.
(Also, amusingly, USC is, at best, going to be the #5 team in the conference this year. Nice to see them get some comeuppance after Carroll's remarks last year.)
Congrats CO. Good luck in the Rose Bowl.
Chaomancer Omega
Dec 7 2009, 05:41 PM
Thanks. And for the record, yes it was a hell of a game. Both teams really played hard, it's rather too bad for OSU that they essentially wind up being #3 in the conference after losing, as they certainly played like a team that could have been conference champions.
That other OSU is going to be an interesting opponent in the Rose Bowl.

Dec 8 2009, 06:39 PM
Hot French lesbian redheads, huh? Hmm...

I'll pick it up one of these days. I'm still burned out on Fantasy RPG from WoW. I understand that the two games are fundamentally different in multiple ways, but the genre-sharing is still enough to keep me from getting into it for the time being.

I'm more or less out on modern RPG's anyway. I much prefur turn based RPG's to "Real Time", but Bioware keeps sucking me in with it's great stories. I loved Mass Effect, I'm loving Dragon Age, and I'm going to love Mass Effect 2. A big part, for me, is the actual realistic relationships you can have with your team. For example, a hot French (actually bi, as you can "hit that" as either a man or woman) redhead. You can even have a gay male relationship if you're so inclined. Plus, the story is really good.
Slovman
Dec 9 2009, 04:38 PM
Damn. The possibility of a lesbian relationship in a video game may be too much for me to pass up!
But dude, turn-based RPGs are pretty much dead. I'd love to see a new one come out, but even the JRPGs...most notably Final Fantasy...have gotten away from it. In fact, I pretty much blame FF for killing turn-based RPGs, because once they stopped doing it, everyone stopped doing it.
I think the only hope we have now is to wait two or three years and then someone will say "Hey, you know what we haven't done in awhile?" and then maybe there will be a revival.

Dec 9 2009, 04:52 PM
"Fable II" also allowed you to have relationships and/or sex with people of whichever gender. In fact, each of the NPCs' stat pages included their sexuality. In the game, I ended up getting married (to a redhead, naturally) and having a child.

From what I've read, FF XIII is bringing the active time battle system back, though modified. So they may be stepping away from the brink somewhat. It sounds like you can select multiple attacks to chain together, but the "slots" for them all have the ATB bar, and this affects when they can go off and how effective the attempt at a combo is. So it sounds like they're trying to have it both ways... not sure it'll work, but at least it's a hopeful sign that they may have learned that completely stepping away from turn-based systems in FF XII wasn't entirely popular.

The world's largest rodent is the capybara. It lives in South America and is a semi-aquatic animal in that it does, in fact, spend about half of its time in or near water. And, like most things that live and breathe and aren't human, it is hunted and eaten. Apparently, it tastes a great deal like pork.
In fact, among those that celebrate Lent, capybara meat is especially popular because in the 16th century, the Catholic Church classified the world's largest rodent...as a fish.
No, I'm not making this up.

Rabbit also isn't a rodent, it's a Lagomorph, which are loosely defined as rodent-like creatures such as rabbits.
