Full Version: Selling stuff again
The Halls of Hysteria > Halls District > The Halls of Hysteria
Chaomancer Omega
Well, I'm still out of work, and I could really use some money right about now, so it's time to put some more stuff on eBay. As before, I'm not expecting anyone here to buy anything -- I know money's tight for a lot of us -- but I thought I'd post just in case, as the stuff I'm putting up is of potential interest to some of us.

Right now, I've got one video game (ToeJam & Earl -- one of my absolute all-time favorites) and some extra action figures I had. Nothing too special, but check them out if you're interested. Most of the auctions are starting out pretty low. Shipping is the least I could afford (these things are heavy as far as postage goes).

I may be putting up some comics later. Need to go through them and figure out what I think might actually sell.

I'll give you 10 cents for your soul!

Sold!
TwinkyMaster
Aw, you sure you don't wanna put that on eBay too? I'm sure you could get more than 10 cents.
Chaomancer Omega
All right, I now have six comic-book lots up. I'll have more in a day or two, as soon as I figure out how I'm going to ship them. (The lots which aren't up yet are small enough that I don't really want to use the flat-rate boxes unless I can't find another way.)
TwinkyMaster
Wow dude, that's a ton of comics. And a lot of complete runs too. I don't know if I could get rid of mine - I'd be selling off DVDs before I got rid of my comics. I sincerely hope that you get some major coin for these auctions because that's some pretty extensive comic runs in there. I put in a couple of starting bids but I'm hoping that these things take off and people who are able to spend much more than I end up winning the auctions.

Have you thought about making posts on some other comic book sites like Newsarama and Comicbloc.com? A little advertising might help things grow.
Chaomancer Omega
Thanks for the support, Twinky!

And yeah, it wasn't easy to part with these... or to just dump a large portion of comics which I didn't think would sell. But, in addition to the money, I really need some space cleared up. I had 5 long boxes in a room which would be crowded even without them. Down to three now; after these auctions, that'll be down to two, and if I can figure out a different place for the box that's just holding spare bags and boards, it'll be one, which is about right. (That box contains Transformers and other 80s comics, and anything else I just couldn't part with.)

I thought about advertising elsewhere, but really, considering I'm not putting a whole lot of comics up, I didn't feel it'd be worth it (especially considering the flaming I'd be sure to get at a place like Newsarama.) Main reason I even posted here is because I know you guys would have some of the same interests, and at least with you guys I know it'd be going to "a good home".

Yeah, but we're all piss broke. tongue.gif

I just wanna see ya get a ton of bids on these. It wouldn't be too much to put up a little post saying "Hey, if anyone's interested, I'm selling the entire runs of Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers, 52, Countdown, Shadowpact and Identity/Infinite Crisis. If you wanna take a look, check out my eBay page."

Maybe on Creation Matrix? Do those guys still read comics?

Oh and would you consider selling that box of spare bags and boards? I'm always looking for more bags/boards for my heavily disorganized comics and I always forget to pick some up each time I go down to my LCS. If you're interested, lemme know how much you want for 'em and I'll see if I can swing it. But if you weren't intending to sell 'em, that's fine too. I totally understand.

I'm not sure if they still even exist. tongue.gif

I haven't been around there since that one crash wiped out all the old user accounts. Never bothered to re-register, since I'd been gone from the site for years anyway.

Let me think on that for a little bit. I'd have to figure out how many spares I'd want to keep a hold of for future use, and also how to ship them through the post office (I'm thinking a long box is not the way to go there. biggrin.gif), but yeah, I'd probably part with the bulk of them for a pretty small amount.
Slovman
CM is still up and running, actually. Though it's certainly looked better than it does now.
KilljoyBob
I'm pretty broke right now, but I'll let some of my friends and geekier coworkers know about your auctions, CO.
Chaomancer Omega
Thanks, KJB. I appreciate the help.
Chaomancer Omega
OK, the last of the comic book lots are now up. Sorry it took so long; I had trouble finding boxes that would be appropriate to ship them in. These are set for 3-day auctions so that the auction end time coincides roughly with the rest of the auctions, and provides enough time (theoretically) for money to be paid and received before Christmas.
Chaomancer Omega
Well, the first day of auctions, with the action figures, has closed with mild success. Thanks to everyone who has bid, and who is bidding, or even just wishing well. It all helps.

I did put up a couple more items today, as I just discovered I had a couple Playstation RPGs lying around that I wasn't playing. So if anybody's interested in Wild Arms 2 or Threads of Fate, they're up there now as well.

Sheesh, people just weren't buying those Masters of the Universe figures, huh? Well, I'm watching the auctions closely - hoping you can get the most you can. I'm bidding where I can although I'm torn between not having much money myself and not wanting to see anything go for too cheaply.

Just so everyone knows, there's less than 5 hours left on some of these auctions. Here's a few of 'em so you know what's up for sale:
Spider-Man: The Other: Evolve or Die #1-12 (Full run)
Green Lantern Rebirth and Green Lantern Corps: Recharge
Justice League: The New Frontier: #1-6 & Special
JLA / Avengers and Shazam: Monster Society of Evil
Batman and the Monster Men & Batman: The Killing Joke
House of M #1-8 & Decimation: The Day After
Solo: #1-10: Sale, Cooke, Chaykin, Allred and more!

There's plenty more too so get on over to his page and bid on stuff.
Chaomancer Omega
Well, all the auctions are closed, and I did reasonably well. I can at least cover my web hosting fees and gas money for a while longer. Thanks again to TwinkyMaster and everyone else who helped out.
TwinkyMaster
You're quite welcome, CO. Glad I could lend a hand (and some cash).

BTW, I love the new signature. That's a line that I myself have quoted not long after seeing that episode. Some other great lines from that show are:

Charlie Crews: Revenge is a poison meant for others that we swallow ourselves.

Charlie Crews: You don't have to understand 'here' to be 'here.'

Charlie Crews: Maybe life is a dream and we wake up when we die?

Charlie Crews: It's like she's no one.
Dani Reese: No one is no one.
Charlie Crews: Now you sound like me.
Dani Reese: Take that back.

Charlie Crews: It's all connected, Reese.
Dani Reese: What is?
Charlie Crews: It is.
Chaomancer Omega
What particularly amused me is how well Damian Lewis (the actor who plays Crews) delivered the lines. It's perfect cheerful optimism in the first one, and perfect slightly-confused disappointment in the second.

Don't worry about it. I appreciate the thought anyway. I wound up doing OK on the auctions; profited perhaps a hundred dollars. (Well, profited over eBay and shipping fees; didn't come anywhere close to recouping the original cost of the items, but that's to be expected; modern comics do not appreciate in value.)

Nah, the signature Twinky's referring to was the one I was using just before Christmas... Crews's comments about fruitcake from the Christmas/mall episode.

The Tom Petty line is my own remark, referring to the song "Zombie Zoo" off of "Full Moon Fever".

Well, I'm still out of work (sheesh), and still need to scrape money together from time to time. So here we go again... this time I have a video game up. Just one at the moment, but I expect I'll have others up soon.

So if anybody wants to have a chance at getting the Arc the Lad Collection and helping me out a bit, click the link, and have a bid. If not, hey, no worries. I know none of you are made of money either, and the only reason I bring this kind of stuff up is because I think it's likely some of you have the same interests as me and thus might want this stuff.

EDIT: And... it's gone. Someone took advantage of the Buy It Now, which makes me happy as it means I get money sooner.
retro22
Heh, well I was going to look @ it, but it was already gone. dry.gif

Congrats =)
Chaomancer Omega
Well, thanks for being willing to look anyway. smile.gif

Maybe you'll have better luck with one of these, if they hold any interest for you:

Final Fantasy VII (Already sold.)
Final Fantasy IX (Sold.)
Final Fantasy Origins (Sold.)
Chaomancer Omega
Hopefully I'm not annoying anybody with these. Here's a few more games up for sale. Last ones for a while, I think.

Final Fantasy X and X-2
Final Fantasy Tactics
Bust-A-Move 4
Bomberman: Party Edition
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Vagrant Story

Do you happen to know if the Bomberman game will work with a ps2 and ps2 multitap?

The game itself will work with a PS2. I don't know if it'll work with a PS2 multitap; a quick Google suggests that it might not, but that it would work with a PS1 multitap plugged into a PS2. I don't have either multitap, so I can't confirm either way, I'm afraid.
retro22
OK, well I guess I'll attempt to find out. =)

Thanks.

A multitap? is that anything like one of there:

No, thank you. The financial help is much appreciated, and it's also good to know one of these games will be going to a Hallsian.

You know, I almost bought that movie from the $5 bin at Walmart last night but decided I could probably find it somewhere for less.

Oh more than one Hallsian. Retro, Zay, and I play the hell out of any Bomberman games we can get our hands on. Thanks for feeding our addiction! laugh.gif

And it's too bad I haven't stopped by as much as usual because I would've liked to help ya out with some auctions - but it seems like most of the games went for pretty good amounts. And with the exception of Bomberman and a few other party games, I'm not much of a gamer anyways. Lemme know if you get any more comics up! wink.gif
