If the final episode of this show has Doomsday killing Clark, I promise I will buy every single season on DVD, despite the fact that I have never seen an entire episode. Promise.

That's an easy promise to make because you know it's not gonna happen.
Doomsday: Real name: Davis Bloome. He’s in his mid-20s. He works as a bartender at the hip new Metropolis lounge Ace of Clubs. He plays down his smoldering good looks with a self-effacing wit and down-to-earth soulfulness. But he has long felt like an outsider (hence his nickname). And beneath his charismatic, easy-going demeanor lies a brooding sense of isolation and insecurity. When he begins to delve into the haunting mysteries of his true origins, a darker truth begins to emerge, one of blood and serial murders, one of survival and utter destruction - one in which he is forced to confront the true evil inside of him.”
Buh?
And second, if the series ends with him killing Clark, despite the fact that he's not actually Doomsday, I'll still buy every season on DVD.

TV Guide.com has some news for Season 8 of Smallville.
Some things of interest are: Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar have departed (and are currently producing the Hannah Montana movie), so four of the series' longtime producers have taken over for Season 8.
There are so many things wrong with that statement.
Also: One of the first things the new quartet did was lock in Justin Hartley for at least 12 episodes as Green Arrow/Oliver Queen.
Aquaman, Black Canary, and Martian Manhunter are scheduled to reappear.
And finally: This season's theme is "double identities," Souders says. "It's about the Superman identity emerging as Clark Kent tries to maintain a normal life — or the appearance of a normal life." To that end, he takes a job at the "Daily Planet," right across the desk from Lois Lane.
Whuh? They've turned a monster whose soul purpose is destruction and murder. Into a character fighting with his inner demons? Seriously they should have ended Smallville a whole year ago. I do like the fight sequences and the occassional nod to the lore of the comics. But still it needs to end and another series of them dragging their feet isn't the way to do it. Heck a two-parter tv movie would be enough to bang the final nail into this shows coffin.

Or was it Doomsday? But yeah, Clark's not dead but Doomsday was still pretty kickass for his first live appearance. Looking forward to more with him. And of course, the LSH episode written by the fantastic Geoff Johns.

So is Doomsday actually a bartender or is he the paramedic dude. Because in the original press release it said bartender but there seems to be something seriously freaky going on with the paramedic. I'd remember his name but I keep falling asleep when trying to watch it.

Doomsday is the paramedic. little homage to the comic origins (engineered on Krypton by Dominators before life on Krypton came back around) with being the child of Zod and the chick Wraith...

New episodes of Smallville return January 15. The first episode the show returns with is written by Geoff Johns and guest stars 3 friends of Clark's from the 31st century. Check out the TV spot here.
If you only watched one episode of Smallville, this would be the one to watch.

Glad you caught it, Gelf. I only remembered that Smallville was returning with new episodes a few minutes before it came on. Actually got it turned on about 5 minutes into the episode so I missed Persuader and his attack on Clark but got to see the 3 founders of the Legion and from that point on, I was geeking out for the entire episode. This episode has probably become my favorite episode of the show. The "Justice" episode that guest starred Green Arrow, Aquaman, Kid Flash, and Cyborg was pretty damn good but "Legion" was like a slice right outta the DCU.
Geoff Johns is a master of these characters and everything fit. There were no incongruities, no contradictions, everything worked within a timeline of "before Superman" and "before the Legion of Super Heroes".
Ya gotta hand it to the show runners too for going with everything that Johns wrote - there were no costumes but the wardrobes the kids had were pretty damn close. And now I want one of those Legion rings!
All around, I thought this episode was fantastic. None of the rest will probably live up to it but I'm just glad Johns got to write an episode for the show and it was geektactular.
Favorite line of the episode: Lightning Lad: "I've gotta tell ya Clark, we've read about Lois Lane, Lana Lang, and even about Jimmy Olsen. But we've never heard of Chloe Sullivan."

The "Legion" ep was still the best episode of Smallville I've seen in a long while, but tonight's episode was still quite fun. They introduced Toy Man and Green Arrow returned (to a show he's a regular in?). Been waiting for Ollie to come back so I was pleasantly surprised when he showed before the credits even showed. While other series regulars, Lois, Jimmy, and Tess Mercer were absent, I don't think anyone really missed them. In fact, as long as the writers wanna keep those guys on the fence, I'll be happy.
Another character we said goodbye to was Lana Lang. Maybe not for good but I also felt Kristin Kreuk's departure from the show was a positive. Not sure what's up with the Lex Luthor business. I suppose I was happy that he played a larger role in this episode, but I'm not crazy about the body double they've got posing as Lex. I wanna see Michael Rosenbaum return to his evil ways. But with the way the episode ended, that might be awhile.
Also, I'm not sure how I feel about Green Arrow being the one to off Luthor (or so he thought). Not quite keeping with his present comics character.

D'oh! Meant to post this reminder sooner but it's been a very busy week. Tonight's Smallville episode features a certain fishnet wearing, backwards speaking, spell-caster!
Since it's only 15 minutes away, you can try finding it on Hulu or CW's website if you miss it.

Haven't got to that one just yet. Tuesdays was the whole Jimmy vs Doomsday thing. Actually I'm really liking Sam Witwer in this series he started off as quite a bland character. But I think his portrayal of a guy fighting to cage the beast withing in is really good. Also look out for him in Crank, Battlestar Galactica, and the Mist.
TwinkyMaster
Apr 26 2009, 07:53 PM
Yeah, Sam Witwer's performance is actually something interesting to watch in between the Jimmy/Chloe/Clark/Davis melodrama. Fortunately the next three episodes coming up sound particularly action-packed. I'm looking forward to seeing how they close out this season.
I checked with Kryptonsite's spoilers page and they say that the actors won't actually be playing Zan and Jayna but will be characters based off of the Wondertwins. They also have some details about other characters who will be showing up in season 9: Brain Austin Green will be playing Metallo and British actor Callum Blue will be playing Major Zod, a different incarnation of Zod than we've seen earlier in the show. Plus news of one episode that I am especially excited for: Geoff Johns has signed on to write an episode featuring members of the Justice Society of America! Can't wait for that one.

No mask, but also no colors. None. And no cape. He has a long black trench coat. He looks more like Batman than Superman.

Yeah, I've seen the costume on the interwebs and it does kinda look like a low tech Batman. Unfortunately, I had to work last Friday, so I missed the premiere. Hopefully I can find it online somewhere. I am looking forward to seeing how they unfold Metallo's storyline.

Yup alternate dimensions. When it's Smallville it's either beard stubble, sunglasses, or dark hair. If it's the women being evil they wear a lot of black eye makeup. Like Avril Lavigne...

Had a rare Friday off from work this week and finally got to watch an episode of this season's Smallville. And I was pleasantly surprised. The writing was pretty good and the acting was it's usual, which is usually pretty good when they have quality material to work with (and Lana isn't on the show). It was a fun Zombie-filled adventure with a little bit of General? Colonel? Zod thrown in at the end. I will say though, that the downward spiral Ollie's in doesn't really work all that well when anyone who knows the comics, knows he'll be back in the costume before long.
As far as the costume goes - I didn't really have an opinion on it until I saw it on TV. I like that the coat hangs down to his feet and gives that sort of cape look. But I really don't like that he's in all black. That doesn't seem like Superman to me and whatever happened to the "Red/Blue Blur"? They know he's the one saving people and putting out fires but is Clark not trying to look like him anymore or what? If this was brought up in a prior episode, would someone mind explaining it to me, please? Thanks.
Frackin' awesome. I am so jazzed for Geoff Johns' 2 JSA episodes.

And they're going full-on costume. Wow.
Gotta say, my excitement over this episode was tempered by the likelyhood that Smallville would dumb down Hawkman's (and Dr. Fate's) costume, like they do everyone else's, with the notable exception of Zatanna.
Well, that pic has me completely rev'ed up. Now I'm not only going to check in for the JSA episode, I want to go back and try to catch up with what's been happening this season.
