Badges are handed out to members for various accomplishments, which range from post counts, to participation in significant events, to various other reasons. They aren't worth much, but they are still highly coveted just for the prestige.
The idea of having badges at the Halls was inspired by their use in the game City of Heroes.
When a Hallsian earns a badge, it is often announced in the Badge Gazebo.
