Battle of the Bots

The first Battle to not have anything to do with sex appeal (at least, we hope so), the Battle of the Bots (July-August 2004) was run by Slovman and asked voters to choose their favorite Decepticon and Autobot Generation One Transformers out of a field of 16 warriors per faction. Optimus Prime and Megatron were excluded from the Battle due to a feeling that they would be guaranteed to win otherwise.
The Battle introduced what would be a standard format to the Battleground, of having two different sub-categories within a Battle, which would each have a champion that would face each other in the final match.
The overall winner of the Battle was Soundwave, much to the chagrin of forum member Andron, who had been railing against the cassette-player Decepticon for many threads. It is suspected this may have helped Soundwave's victory over Starscream and the Autobot champion, Hound, who had beaten Warpath.
