The first Battle run by Oogie56 is also notable for being the first Battle to have a shutout in its final match. Amazing Fantasy #15 had a strong run of success up to the final round, but it was completely dominated by Action Comics #1. Classic comic book covers dominated the field, but there were some modern entries as well. The battle proved so popular that Oogie followed it up almost immediately with a sequel battle.

The top four were:

  2. Amazing Fantasy No. 15
  3. Amazing Spider-Man No. 50
  4. Identity Crisis No. 4
