Battle of the Commercial Failures

Organized by Chaomancer Omega, with ideas from himself and Slovman, the Battle of the Commercial Failures featured 32 commercial products which failed to gain public appeal. The battle is unique among battles by being the only one to be double-elimination, meaning that any item which lost was entered in a loser's bracket for a second chance. Because of this system, the battle lasted 10 rounds, which may have been responsible for lower levels of participation in later rounds. The battle is also notable for having a significantly higher-than-average number of shutouts (11 total), which may have been due to the lower participation.

The top four "winners" of the battle:

  1. E.T. for the Atari 2600
  2. New Coke
  3. PJ Squares
  4. Battlefield Earth
