Battle of the Country Songs

The Battle of the Country Songs was notable for a certain degree of repetition in the nominations. There were three different versions of Ghost Riders in the Sky nominated, and six songs by Johnny Cash (including, of course, Cash's version of Ghost Riders.) But it was an old Halls favorite, Devil Went Down to Georgia, by the Charlie Daniels Band, that wound up winning the competition. Johnny Cash songs rounded out the next two places with Ring of Fire and I Walk the Line, with Jimmy Dean's Big Bad John taking fourth place.
