This McCrea Award was first handed out in 2005, and "celebrates" achievements in excessive delays in comic books. In its first year, it was given to the Marvel miniseries Secret War, written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Gabriele Dell'Otto. The miniseries, which was originally scheduled to ship 5 issues on a quarterly basis, was not released with each issue meeting that three-month deadline, and the final issue wound up being a full ten months behind its originally-planned release date.

In 2006, it was given to Daredevil: Father, which had narrowly escaped being given the award the year before.
