With as many comic-book deaths as took place in 2005, it was natural to include a McCrea Award for the best achievement in dying. While the subject was heavily debated, including some question as to the validity of the category itself, the award was given to the hilarious death of Grasshopper in the miniseries G.L.A.
In 2006, with just as many deaths peppering the comic landscape, the award was given to the noble death in battle of Superboy.
