Blissfully ignoring the choices of the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes, the Hallsians bestow this McCrea Award on their choice for Best Movie of the Year. The choices are often highly debated, but the winner has always been highly acclaimed, and to date, has always been won by a comic-book movie. In 2004, it was awarded to Spider-Man 2, and in 2005, it was won by Batman Begins.

In 2006, it was again won by a comic-book movie, though not one based on a mainstream superhero: the adaptation of Alan Moore's V For Vendetta took home the prize.
