Each year, the comics companies produce many new ongoing series. This McCrea Award celebrates the best of the newcomers.

In 2004, it was won by Dan Slott's She-Hulk series, which had rapidly become a favorite of many Hallsians. In 2005, it was won by Allan Heinberg's Young Avengers, a title whose quality had surprised many of the Hallsians, who had initially derided the concept. Dan Slott had another winner in 2006, with The Thing, despite the series' short run.
