Blue Beetle

Ted Kord was not the first to bear the title of Blue Beetle, and not the last, but he is the one most Hallsians will refer to when using the name. One of the stars of Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis's work on Justice League International, Formerly Known as the Justice League, and I Can't Believe It's Not the Justice League, the genius inventor was often played for laughs, but also had a serious side that was occasionally dealt with in recent years. In his final appearance, Countdown to Infinite Crisis, Blue Beetle's investigation into a conspiracy led to his death in a tale that showed what true heroism was all about. For this he was awarded the 2005 McCrea Award for Best Superhero.
