Celestial Referees

A group of omnipotent beings that supposedly kept order in the entire known multiverse, the Celestial Referees oversaw the Battle to End All Battles I. Though it has never been fully explained how these battles prevented reality from being destroyed, the Referees put a great emphasis on them.

But when the Pimpin' Goat, champion of the first Battle to End All Battles fell to Lesbianism in the Battle to End All Battles II, the seeds of the Referees' destruction were sown. Teaming up with Legend the Prairie Dog and Orson Welles, hijacking the USS Reliant and forcing Hallsians to stage a Battle to End All Battles III to distract the Referees, the Goat led an all-out invasion of their home planet and defeated them.

The victors soon realized the price for their triumph, however. Now they were imbued with the power and charged with the responsibility of maintaining all of existence. Goat, Legend, Orson Welles, and their army of cactuars had become the Celestial Referees. Beyond this shocking revelation, they also discovered that some of the previous Referees had escaped the invasion and now sought to wreak havoc in the known universe.

To combat these Rogue Officials, Legend created the Fantasy Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny and charged Hallsians with the task of creating a team of heroes capable of taking on the rogues. This process continues even now.
