Barely three months into its first year as an independent forum, the Halls had a defining moment, a throwback to the kind of rapidfire nonsense the 4F Guild had pioneered two years earlier. On August 10th, 2004, two new members, Hurricane and Marth113 didn't quite know what they were getting into when they started a thread called "Chao Masters" and expected the Hallsians to discuss the cutesy little creatures from the Sonic games. But their poor spelling, disjointed grammar, and a truly bizarre perspective on how forums worked left the thread wide open for derailment. Hallsians quickly pounced on the thread, wildly and gleefully misinterpreting the intended topic to everything from Charo to Sonic Drive-Thrus. Hurricane became increasingly desperate as what he felt was "his site" spun out of control and eventually he and Marth113 cussed their way to banishment. But chao references remain a part of the Halls, and the anniversary of the thread is celebrated each year. Only those who participated in the original thread will be wearing this badge, though.
