Chao Masters Thread

On August 10th, 2004, the young forums at the newly-transplanted Halls of Hysteria had their first defining moment, thanks in large part to the clueless efforts of new members Hurricane and Marth113. Originally intended to be a thread about chao from the Sonic the Hedgehog video games, Hurricane's poor communication skills gave Hallsians all the room they needed to send the topic spiraling into madness. By the time Hurricane and Marth113 had come back to check on their thread, Hallsian speculation on what a chao might be ran the gamut from chow dogs to chocobos. The pair tried desperately to regain control of the Chao Masters thread, but posting was so fast and furious that they were rarely able to keep up. Eventually their frustration over this led to a profanity-laden tirade, and their subsequent banishment from the Halls.
Regardless of how it ended, the Chao Masters thread spawned countless Hallsian traditions, including Charo at Sonic, the occasional use of "chao" in place of cursewords, and the use of a chao avatar on soon-to-be-banned members. Also, the anniversary of the thread is celebrated each year as swarms of chao invade and Hallsians try to emulate the poor language skills of Hurricane and Marth113.
