Cliff Claven first appeared on the Halls during the Battle to End All Battles, and then later reappeared during the Battle to End All Battles II, both times as a contestant in the field. However, neither of these events indicated just how important Cliff would become to the site.
During Zero Halls, Cliff arrived on Halls Isle as a full-fledged member for the first time, posting under the sobriquet of "The Cliff". He quickly made his way to Gelf's Tavern, where he eventually found TheRidge, who he had been seeking in order to give him the warning "Beware the fat elephant". This cryptic clue was eventually to be revealed as a warning about the impending destruction of Ridge's Fortress. Exactly how Ridge was meant to figure this out is unclear, but Cliff defended his crypticness by asserting that it was a little-known fact that one must be circumspect about giving information to people in the past, lest it mess up the timeline.
Cliff had one more revelation, however. He revealed that he himself was a possible future version of TheRidge, who had gone back in time to become a television star, and then eventually travelled to the present to deliver his warning to his younger self. After Zero Halls, Cliff took up semi-permanent residence in Gelf's Tavern, and has been a sometime correspondent for KHUH Radio. He has also been a member of the FUSUD Ridge City Badgers team, but is currently a free agent.
