Primarily a Heroclix site now, Creation Matrix was once the home of thriving discussions of comics, games, movies, and tv. The Halls moved in as a forum after the 4F Guild left HCRealms. Here it grew and changed, until it split into its own site on May 26, 2004.

As far as can be recalled by current Hallsians, Creation Matrix was a site dedicated to Heroclix and action figures, especially Transformers, which at the time had an equal share of the forum space. When the 4F Guild moved in, the Halls of Hysteria initially started as a single thread, and was then given its own separate subforum. Meanwhile, Beetle started a comics subforum which came to be known as Beetle's Comics World.

Eventually, Creation Matrix, the owner of the site, added the ability to play Heroclix by posting in the forum. This, combined with tournaments such as the Creation Matrix Online Heroclix Championships, led to the site becoming highly popular among fans of the game, including many members of HCRealms who otherwise stayed at the other site when not playing games. Gradually, the site became more and more dedicated to Heroclix, and less so to other pursuits; this was one factor in the Halls splitting off.

Meanwhile, the owner of the site, Creation Matrix, found his own interest waning in both the game and the website that was his namesake. He reigned as "Monarch in absentia" for several years, eventually handing ownership of the site over to an eager new moderator by the name of Lancelot after the Glitch in the Matrix.

For awhile, several Hallsian regulars maintained a presence at both sites, but that has gradually ebbed. And while Creation Matrix will always be known as the place the Halls grew out of, it has recently become more associated with its startlingly frequent downtimes.
