A DC Comics supervillain, General Zod was imprisoned by Superman's father in the Phantom Zone, and thus escaped the destruction of Krypton. He has all of Superman's powers, and none of his morals. Although he has been seen in several incarnations in the comics, he is usually remembered as the villain of Superman II, as played by Terrance Stamp; in fact, it is only in a recent run of Action Comics, by Geoff Johns and Richard Donner, that the movie version of Zod has appeared in DC Comics canon.

General Zod was a semi-finalist in the Battle of the Movie Villains, losing to Magneto.
