Maxwell Lord

Maxwell Lord always appeared to be a friend to the members of Justice League International, even recruiting many of them to join his "Superbuddies" outfit in Formerly Known as the Justice League and its sequel. But this was a facade, as the man who could control minds was slowly acquiring more power in a plot to take over the world by eliminating all other metahumans. He shot his former friend Blue Beetle in the head, subverted Superman through a series of post-hypnotic suggestions, and took control of the Brother Eye satellite, which sent hundreds of thousands of OMAC to destroy the metahumans of Earth. In the end, Max Lord was only stopped by Wonder Woman breaking his neck.

Maxwell Lord was awarded the 2005 McCrea Award for Best Supervillain.
