Metallica is perhaps the most famous heavy metal band, and their popularity cannot be understated, including their popularity on the Halls. How else can one explain three nominations in the Battle of the Cover Songs, and six in the Battle of the Metal Songs -- with no overlap between the battles? Their song Enter Sandman won the Battle of the Metal Songs; no other Metallica song finished in the top four of the battle. It also went on to take second place in the Grand Battle of Songs.
