Red Lanterns

Mentioned by Mirror Slovman during The Storm, the Red Lanterns are presumably the Mirror Halls' counterparts to the Green Lanterns. Mirror Slovman himself was a Red Lantern, but killed all his comrades and absorbed their crimson energies. When Mirror Slovman was defeated, Slovman destroyed the red power ring to prevent any other mirror universe cronies from claiming it.

Since the only knowledge we have of the Red Lanterns is Mirror Slovman's insane ramblings, we can only assume they were comparable in number and power to the Green Lanterns and were organized in roughly the same fashion. Where the Green Lanterns' rings worked largely on willpower (or in Slovman and Lantern Girl's cases...sexual energy), the Red Lanterns' rings seemed to be fueled by rage, if Mirror Slovman was any indication.

It appears unlikely that anymore will be learned about the Red Lanterns, since supposedly they are all dead. But a conflict with the Mirror Halls is seemingly inevitable, and the Green Lanterns have managed to come back from being wiped out themselves.

DC Comics

Recently, an issue of Booster Gold hinted at the existence of Red Lanterns in the DC Comics universe. As of Green Lantern #25, it has been partly revealed what their nature will be; the Red Lanterns will be fueled by hatred, and are shown breathing fire (or possibly luminous blood) in addition to the usual energy constructs.
