Rock Gladstone

Rock Gladstone wanders the streets of Midtown.

The best Private Eye in all the Halls (mostly because he's the only one), Rock Gladstone first made a name for himself solving the murder of Leeds Knight (although most Hallsians had been unaware of LK's death, and Rock failed to piece together the clues.) His position as resident Private Eye of the Halls was then cemented by bumbling through the murder of FutureGuy and the imprisonment of many Hallsians in the Joliet Jailhouse. This incident became known as the Prison of Paranoia, and Rock was easily duped into believing that everyone and no one did it.

In August of 2006, during The Storm, Rock had arguably his finest moment. Thanks to the dream manipulation of Revil Fox, Rock briefly became the highly-skilled and courageous hero he can only hope to be. During these few moments, Rock climbed up to the roof of the Halls with a sniper rifle and drew first blood on the rampaging Mirror Slovman. He also seemed to learn the identity of Sodacrotch Man, but lost that knowledge when Revil's influence faded. He also lost his ability to climb back down from the roof, and was trapped up there for several weeks. He was eventually rescued by Jade.

Rock appears to have issues with his mother, whom he lived with for a very long time. He has made many references to his mother starving him, treating him poorly, and having sex with multiple partners, often while Rock was in the room. Further, his mother gave him a distinctly demoralizing name; "Rock" is not his true given name, and he grew up with the name "Rosalyn". Rock also claims a past career as a TV news anchorman, which seems to have been as successful as his detective career.

Rock is frequently tormented by his childhood friend/foe Jack Turnpike, who seems to take a casual glee in bursting Rock's bubble. However, Rock did get the better of Jack on his birthday, when Jack wound up covered in soda and the venerable Birthday Cake.

Rock was the winner of the 2005 McCrea Award for Best Fake Hallsian. As he went to accept his award, it was stolen by the Evil Zombie Hervé Villechaize during the ceremony. It was eventually returned by Revil Fox, shortly after the battle with Mirror Slovman.

In 2006, Rock was tricked by Jack Turnpike into accepting the Best Secondary Character award that was intended for the DC Comics character Detective Chimp. Since Detective Chimp has not made any attempt to claim the statue, Rock has kept it to this day.

Rock has currently been hired to track and find the villain known as Sodacrotch Man. His skills are being put to the test by the fiend. Rock's office is located in Stovehaven, and was formerly in the Comics Midtown. You can also follow his thoughts and adventures in his blog.
