The main character of Quantum Leap, Sam Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, putting right what once went wrong in the past, and hoping each time that the next leap will be the leap home. Sam is aided in this quest by Al Calavicci, a man from his own time who shows up in the form of a hologram only Sam can see and hear. Sam is a genius in the vein of Leonardo da Vinci; both a scientific genius and a true Renaissance man, mastering many skills ranging from music to karate, with a roundhouse kick that is capable of knocking normal people out in a single blow. It is perhaps a good thing for Sam that this is so, because he has not only leaped into a handful of Hallsians during Quantum Leap Week, but has also leapt his way into the FUSUD as a member of the Lost Grove Spiders.
