Stove first appeared when Slovman left the Halls for a time. After the other doppelgangers were gone, only Stove remained. With his jive talking and big hammer, he quickly became a stalwart defender of the Halls. He gave his life during the Zero Halls event, by crashing the USS Imbalance into Sextant. A statue in his honor was erected, and the area around it was renamed Stove Point.

When Slovwoman battled the chickenraptor threat, she claimed that her sword held the disembodied spirit of Stove. She often talked to him/it, and no one knew what to really make of this. Some even thought she was crazy, until a mishap with electroshock therapy to cure Elf Piss Diabetes caused the release of his spirit, in the form of Electric Stove. Though technically free, Electric Stove still spent much of his time in the Stovesword, explaining that he would lose cohesion if he stayed out too long.

After Slovwoman was blasted and left comatose by Mirror Slovman, it seemed that Stove's spirit had moved out of the sword and into Slovwoman's body. This didn't sit too well with Stove and he demanded that the Hallsians come up with a way to get him out, even if it meant killing him. A few methods were suggested, but nothing was done until Destiny Lass finally offered to ascend Stove to the status of Celestial Referee. Given physical form and near-omnipotent power, Stove now fights alongside Legend and The Pimpin' Goat to keep order in the universe and hunt down the Rogue Officials.

Stove was picked up by the Knox Vegas Clamhammers for the Fantasy Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. This Stove is a time-displaced version from the period before his "death."

Stove was a McCrea Award winner in 2004 for Best Fake Slov-Related Hallsian.
