Super Mario Bros.
From HallsWiki
Easily the best-known and most-owned game for the original Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Mario Bros. features Italian plumber brothers Mario and Luigi attempting to rescue the princess from the evil dragon Bowser. It's the canonical example of a "platform game" wherein the characters jump from one platform to the next acquiring power-ups and defeating enemies.
Super Mario Bros. was the winner in the Classic division of the Battle of the Video Games, where it beat several notable games, including Pac-Man and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past before losing to the Modern champion and overall winner, Civilization II.
