Superboy is a name that has been used for three different characters in DC Comics history. Traditionally, it was used simply to describe the younger version of Superman, in flashbacks and even comic series set in his past.

During a brief spell in the 80s, it also referred to Superboy Prime, who was virtually identical to the Silver Age Superboy, but lived on a world that was otherwise identical to the real world.

More recently, it refers to Kon-El, Connor Kent, a partial clone of Superman and Lex Luthor who had tactile telekinesis and was gradually gaining powers equivalent to Superman. He was featured in his own comic book series for a time, and also in Young Justice and Teen Titans. He died in the pages of Infinite Crisis fighting Superboy Prime, who had gone insane. This heroic death earned him the 2006 Best Comics Death McCrea Award
