The Blues Brothers, headed up by Elwood Blues and "Joliet" Jake Blues, are a blues, R&B, and soul revue band, based in Chicago. In reality, the group was formed by comedians Dan Ackroyd, who plays Elwood, and John Belushi, who played Joliet Jake. The two comics were both big blues fans and formed the band on Saturday Night Live, reportedly to fill in for a musical act that had cancelled. The band would reappear several times, eventually spawning their own albums and a film, which is viewed as one of the greatest comedies to come out of the 1980s -- and probably the greatest movie to come out of Saturday Night Live.

The Blues Brothers had two songs entered into the Battle of the Blues and R&B Songs, and both did quite well, taking the top two spots. Sweet Home Chicago took first place, and Soul Man took second.
