Of the miniseries that led up to Infinite Crisis, The OMAC Project is probably the one most tied to the various aspects of the DC Universe. It spun directly out of Countdown to Infinite Crisis, and followed the investigations of the heroes into the death of Blue Beetle and the attacks on metahumans led by Brother Eye and the OMACs. It was dogged by a measure of controversy as the "Sacrifice" crossover in the Superman and Wonder Woman titles was an essential part of the story, rather than having the miniseries be completely self-contained.
The miniseries was written by Greg Rucka and illustrated by Jesus Saiz.
