The most famous ship in the Star Trek universe and arguably the most famous starship in television history, the USS Enterprise (Registry Number NCC-1701) has actually been the name of seven different vessels commanded by six different men and one woman. The most notable ships in this lineage are the "original" Enterprise and the Enterprise-D, commanded by Captain Kirk and Captain Picard respectively.
